The RDA City location is the original and primary site of the Riverhounds Academy, an extension of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds professional club that was founded in 1999. Today, the RDA City’s top teams compete in the ECNL, the premier league for boys and girls in the United States. The academy's player pathway aims to prepare players for the highest levels of the game, culminating in first-team opportunities with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in the USL Championship and Pittsburgh Riveters SC in the USL W League.

Scott Gibson is Academy Director of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and head coach of the Pittsburgh Riveters in the USL W League. Originally from England, Gibson played collegiately at Duquesne University before joining the Riverhounds as a professional player in 2008. Since 2007, he has led the growth of the Riverhounds Academy into the region’s premier development academy, helping over 300 players reach the collegiate level and guiding teams to national success. Under his leadership, both the Academy and the Riveters have established clear and competitive pathways for aspiring players.

The vision of Grassroots is to provide every child with a fun, safe, and engaging introduction to soccer that inspires a lifelong love of the game. Through positive first experiences for children ages 4–8, we build the foundation for lifelong participation, personal growth, and future player development.
Ages 9+
Technical Training Academy is where it all began. Offered year-round at multiple locations, the program provides players with the opportunity to refine their skills and build confidence on the ball.

The Riverhounds Goalkeeper Academy provides aspiring goalkeepers with a premier development environment. Led by experienced Riverhounds Academy coaches, the program focuses on building strong fundamentals including positioning, movement, handling, shot stopping and distribution.

Riverhounds Speed & Strength is designed to improve players' overall athleticism through a structured approach focused on soccer-specific speed, strength and conditioning. Delivered by expert coaches across all stages of development, the program helps players build the physical tools needed to perform at their best.
Riverhounds Training Programs
Riverhounds Private & Small Group Training provides players with a focused, personalized development environment. Led by Riverhounds Development Academy coaches, sessions are designed to improve technical ability, build confidence and support continued growth.
